Of course, the next time I restart my computer, the device manager then automatically updates and reinstalls the Synaptics driver which breaks, again, the keyboard/touchpad functionality. do not work, presumably because there's no driver for these functionalities). When I right click and 'uninstall device', and then restart the computer, my keyboard and touchpad work again (though the advanced touchpad features - multifinger swipes, scrolling, etc. I'm quite certain that the problem is with the Synaptics driver (highlighted below).
The touchpad does not work at all, and the keyboard only works in the BIOS or when using the function keys. Recently, my touchpad and keyboard stopped working correctly.
